Another year gone by, and another year filled various experiences and memories. Some are good, some are bad, and some I still have not really processed. A common theme I have noticed among loved ones (including myself), is that people are struggling to find their place in life. Where is it that they belong and where is it that they are meant to be? In my short time in this world, I have found that there is no absolute, direct answer. You just simply don’t know. However, you can take steps, create paths, and go on many adventures to find that place.
I don’t claim to know the answer to everything, but I will always offer the best insight I can, especially to those who have not yet reached this point in life. Do what you love. If you haven’t found something you love, try different things. Everyone has a natural talent, a natural love, you just have to make that first step in finding it.
When you love something, it shows. You just naturally shine, and better yet, you radiate a contagious happiness that makes other people happy and gravitate to you. And keep at it. Whatever your love is, keep going with it. Pursue it and improve yourself every day in it. Even if there are those who would either don’t understand why it is you do what you do or worse, belittle you because of your interests, that is all the more reason to persevere. It’s not their lives, it’s yours. It is in the face of adversity that you must be strongest. And when you love something, you won’t even think twice about whether you should continue down that path or not. You just do it.
Keep an open mind, learn from your peers, and always do what you can to make this world a better place. There are so many things that we as a community can do, so don’t feel bad or pressured if you haven’t managed to pinpoint your purpose in life. The first step is choosing a path and then going from there.
Over the years, I’ve found a passion for networking and connecting with people through social media. I just like doing it. I never thought I would, but I do and it is largely in part because of you guys.
I post videos up on Youtube, I vine, I tweet, I write silly blogs, I travel to geeky conventions, I livestream, I cosplay… I even have a small community of my own. GeekyFriedRice has become a brand to me and my motto is creating a community where being nerdy and geeky is accepted and required. These things would not have been possible if I did not connect with you guys. You as a community have opened my eyes to so much, and I am beyond grateful. Whether you’ve been in my life for a few years or a few months, I am happy to have you in my life. The support you’ve shown me, the care and love you’ve given me, it is very precious. We may not speak every day, but please know that I cherish you.
Let us embark into 2016 maybe not really knowing where we will go, but know we have each other and we are at least starting an adventure into the unknown. May you all find your loves and may you always be surrounded by those who wish nothing but success and prosperity for you.
Happy holidays. Less than three you.
